Davido: 5 times singer has engaged in philanthropy
Nigerian music star David Adeleke popularly known as Davido isn’t just one of the biggest stars from Africa but one of the most benevolent of them.
Since his career took center stage in 2012, Davido hasn’t only become a hitmaker but the ‘go-to guy’ by many Nigerians whenever they need help.
This has had nothing to do with him being a billionaire heir to the Adeleke dynasty. For many, he simply just has a good heart and is always willing to help the underprivileged.
We will be highlighting five times the music star doughed out money for people he barely knows.
The birthday largess to 292 orphanages in Nigeria
In 2021 during the build-up to his 29th birthday, Davido took to his social media accounts where he asked his friends to send him money to celebrate the special day. What started off as a joke became one of the most talked-about highlights of the year in the life of a celebrity in Nigeria.
The music star raised N250M in 72 hours from friends and well-wishers. A day later, he announced that he was giving the entire money raised to orphanages across the country. The money was disbursed to 292 orphanage homes in Nigeria.
Scholarship to brilliant Ghanaian student
As they say, it takes only one moment for a person’s life to be changed forever. And that was the case of a certain teenager Suleyman in Ghana whose family couldn’t afford to send him to the university over their financial status.
Interestingly, the young man had an excellent A-level result. His predicament was shared on social media and as usual, Davido was on hand to save the day. He gifted Suleyman a five-year full scholarship at his father’s private university.

The music star has given several people scholarships to various institutions of learning. In 2018, a fan took to Twitter to appeal to him for financial assistance towards his education and he got even more than he bargained for.
Well, in his usual display of how big his heart is, Davido replied to the fan with a life-changing response.
“Dm me ur details .. I’ll call the school to let you begin ❤️,” Davido tweeted.

Celebrities are known for gifting their fans on social media with cash gifts from time to time. However, Davido has always stood out from his peers.
He just doesn’t give cash gifts but sometimes makes these gifts life-changing. One time, the music star gifted a random follower on Twitter with the sum of N1M.
Nigerian music icon 2Face Idibia has in a shocking but interesting post apologised to his wife, kids, mum and management for being an ’embarrassment’ to them.
In a lengthy post shared via his Instagram page on Monday, August 8, 2022, the music star said he is not looking for sympathy from anyone but was only setting the records straight.
“Las Las 🙏🏾This is no stunt. I’m sorry for all the embarrassment I’ve caused my wife, my kids, my mother and all our families and my management team. I’m not looking for no sympathy I’m not trying to make myself look good. This is no reverse psychology bullshit,” he wrote.
“I simply just don’t want to be the one that always apologise. I’ve been a shity father and a shity husband and shity baby daddy. I have no excuses. I just want to do right by my wife, and my kids and their moms and my mom and all families and my manager and friends.”
The music star said his post has nothing to with being suicidal but isn’t worried if he gets cancelled by fans.
“I beg y’all to pls just face me and cancel me anyhow. I’ve been a star for so long that my bulletproof vest is worn-out. I’m not quitting or suicidal or giving up,” he added.
“I just want to go back to my default settings and denounce my role model status and make up lost time with my kids and give y’all music that will make u remember and understand why they call me 2BABA #GRATEFUL.”

This isn’t the first time the music icon will be standing behind his wife and kids in public.
However, this is the first time he’ll be publicly apologising to his family for the ‘wrongs’ he has done to them.
A few months ago, the music star and his wife, Annie, were caught in a messy crisis.
In September 2021, the actress called out her husband over his ‘suspicious’ relationship with one of his baby mamas, Pero.
She also accused his family of not loving and caring about her since their marriage.
The mother of two said her husband’s family has frustrated their marriage for the past ten years.
A few weeks later a leaked audio taping of the movie star surfaced where she threatened fire and brimstone.

She later released a statement on her IG page, apologising to the music star and his family.
Obviously still pained by the music star’s past relationships, the actress once again brought up the topic during one of the episodes of the Netflix original reality TV series ‘Young, Famous and African.’
According to the actress, she had been subjected to many humiliations and embarrassment and would always question how 2face made the same mistake twice.

Davido has shared cute messages about his estranged fiancee over the last few months.
In March, he called her the greatest chef in the world.
Over the last few months, Davido and Chioma have given hints about a possible reunion.
First, the former couple hosted friends and family during their son’s birthday in 2021.
They were later spotted together at a family function organised by Davido’s family in Jan 2022.
Just recently, Davido further fueled the reunion gist among his fans after he attended Chioma’s sister’s wedding.
The wedding which was held on Saturday, February 19 saw the singer and his 30BG crew in attendance.
This move surprised Nigerians as they wonder if the singer is back with Chioma.

In a video that made the rounds on the internet, Davido was seen on the dance floor singing some of his hit songs to the delight of the newly-wedded couple.
The talented singer also stunned many as he rained bundles of money on the couple.
Davido and Chioma’s relationship took a nosedive in Feb 2021, when Davido was spotted holding hands with Yafai, an Instagram model while on holiday in the Caribbean.
This was followed, by a series of loved-up photos of the two that broke the Internet in March 2020.
Chioma and Davido started dating in late 2017 and went exclusive the following year.
The music star proposed to her in 2019, days after their introduction.
They welcomed their son, Ifeanyi that same year.
