Jamaica’s top singer, Spice trending globally with new song featuring Shaggy, Sean paul

One of the most celebrated Jamaican singers, who also double as an award-winning Dancehall and Reggae artist Grace Latoya Hamilton, known by her stage name as Spice is making massive impression with her new song titled ‘Go Down Deh’ featuring A-list Jamaican singers Shaggy and Sean Paul.

The sets off new bar, trending globally across various streaming platforms and has also garnered enough positive reviews and become one of the most played hit single in Africa since its release in April.

The song is coming off her highly anticipated debut album, titled TEN, slated for release on July 30.

Produced by Grammy Award nominee, Costi Ionita and Shaggy and written by Spice, Sean Paul, Shaggy, Costi and Shane Hoosong, “Go Down Deh” – the rhythmically pulsating song for the first time, saw a collaboration between the iconic and celebrated Jamaican trio.

Spice revealed her excitement working with the featured stars who she described as “Legends”.

“Working with Sean and Shaggy is one of the biggest milestones of my career! They are both International giants in our genre and I’m honored to have created such a historic moment by being one of the first artists to have them collaborate on a track together”, she said.

Shaggy while also commenting on the collaboration said: “Spice is a powerhouse! She’s respected and celebrated throughout our culture and stands as an icon in the game of dancehall.” He adds, “From day one, Sean has been someone I’ve admired with his signature style and a voice that makes anything sound great. The track that we’ve created showcases their artistry while highlighting the chemistry between us as artists.”

“Working on this single with Shaggy & Spice was a great vibe,” adds Sean Paul.” “Shaggy and I have a great relationship and I’ve been a fan of Spice’s throughout her career, so I’m happy to work with her. A director at Prime Music Partners expressed satisfaction on the impressions the song has had across nations even down to African countries.

The singer is currently Signed to VP Records, one of the world’s largest reggae and Caribbean record label, and a major contributor to the globalization of reggae and dancehall culture.

She has received the YVA Award for Female Artist of the Year 7 consecutive times, and nominated for the UK’s coveted MOBO Award. The new song will further strengthen her spot at the top of the music scene.

IYO: Tanzania’s music star Diamond Platnumz features SA’s rapper Focalistic in new song

Tanzania and one of Africa’s greatest artists, Nasibu Abdul Juma Issack, known professionally as Diamond Platnumz has released new hit song titled ‘Iyo’ featuring South African rapper Focalistic, Ntosh Gazi and musical group Mapara A Jazz.

The song, ‘Iyo’ is a light-hearted and dance track that is sure to brighten up any bleak atmosphere. It is Diamond’s second release for the year. He kicked off the year with a top charting single ‘Kamata’, which fans around the world has so far adored.

Talking about the song, Kim Kayndo, Head of Digital Department at the artiste’s record label WCB Wasafi, revealed the meaning of the title “Iyo”, a swahili word which translate to ‘That’ and a combination of other local Tanzania’s words like ‘magodoro, tumeweka maji’ .

“Iyo is a popular swahili language which means ‘that’.
The song generally reflects on party life, fun and winding up at night. It’s also a resonance of hope which tends to convene a message that you live now, enjoy the moment and trust that tomorrow will be better”

His more than successful career has seen him explore beyond continents, collaborating with top artistes around the world. More impressive is his effort to build from his African root.

Highlighting on the collaboration, the ‘Kamata crooner’ added, “I Believe in unity and peace, and music is one of of the biggest thing that connects different countries and bring people with different culture together! That’s why i decided to join with my brother’s in South Africa to motivate people to keep the unity and peace”.

Akeju, a top director at Prime Music Partners, one of the major distributors of the music also added, “When I got an update about the new song, I was really excited. Diamond has blessed us with really nice musics over the years so definitely am sure this collaboration will be another hit”.

The WCB record owner, on Wednesday 14th July, took to his official social media handles to unveil his brand new car, a Rolls-Royce Cullinan 2021 valued at about USD650k. He is no doubt, one of the most richest artistes in Africa and this further confirms it.

The artist was recently spotted in a studio with American record producer
swizz beats and A-list rappers Wiz Khalifa, bustarymes, Snoop Dogg amongst others.

For so many reasons, 2021 looks certainly like a great year for him and he will be hoping that the new song excites his fans and new range of audiences around the world.
