Budweiser Smooth Kings Remix – “Season 1 Episode 1” Ft Ycee and Veeiye 1

Nigeria’s premium lager Budweiser, in fulfilment of its commitment to present its consumers with new and exciting things, has launched a music show tagged Budweiser Smooth Kings Remix show. The maiden edition is hosted by Ex-BBN Housemate Mike Edwards.

The first season of the show will run for a period of 10 weeks. Every week, 2 big Nigerian music artists would be paired to remix a Naija classic song and render the song in a live performance on YouTube. These songs are first cooked up in the Bud recording studio at Lekki, Lagos ahead of the live performances with the help of the official producer of the show.

This week’s guests are, former Big Brother Naija Season 5 finalist and singer, Victoria Adeyele, who came to the limelight with the name, Vee and of course the one and only ‘Omo Alhaji crooner’, Oludemilade Martin Alejo, professionally known as Ycee.

The latter, Ycee revealed on the show that he was first launched into the spotlight by his song “Jagaban”, back in the year 2015. Ycee was honest about not expecting that the song would go that far, and it was the first time he truly felt like he had ‘Blown’.

Vee says it felt good to be accepted by the public, the very first time she dropped the song ‘Show’ and although her accent was evident, she was told that she sounded as Nigerian as she could have. Vee and Ycee get on with their task of performing the remix of MI’s 2010 classic, ‘Action Film’, featuring Brymo.

10 years later, Ycee and Veeiye jump on and bring back to life the 2010 banger ‘Action’ film with an incredible performance. The most interesting part of this has to be MI watching a video of their performances and beaming with smiles.

He said, “YCee and Vee, you guys finished work, and it’s amazing, and I am a little bit emotional. The song was amazing and I am honoured to be a part of it”.

That marks the end of an exciting episode, do watch out for the next one.

Sarz x Lojay – “Tonongo”

Sarz x Lojay – “Tonongo” 16

SARZ AND LOJAY RELEASE BRAND NEW SINGLE TITLED ‘TONONGO’, ALSO RELEASES A MUST-SEE VISUAL SINGLE TAKEN FROM FORTHCOMING COLLABORATIVE EP.

One of the fastest-rising music acts to come onto the Afro-Fusion scene, with his unmistakable tone and dextrous lyrical delivery, singer, songwriter and producer Lojay has teamed up with fellow Lagos native, the prolific and internationally renowned, super-producer Sarz on their brand-new single ‘Tonongo’ (released via Sony Music Entertainment and Metallic Music).

Showcasing Lojay’s sublime vocals alongside Sarz’s slick production which blends contemporary Afrobeats with urgent Hip-Hop and sensual R&B sounds – and has established him as the go-to producer for heavyweight acts in Nigeria and across the globe such as Wizkid, Burna Boy, Skepta, Drake and Beyoncé) – ‘Tonongo’ is assisted by a must-see visual inspired by Lojay’s own experience of falling in love with a dancer. The single is taken from a forthcoming collaborative EP from the dynamic duo.

Speaking on ‘Tonongo’, Lojay said:

’Tonongo’ is about expressing the depth of emotion that lies beyond the surface. The single was inspired by the atmosphere of a strip club – moody and dark – a fitting ode to the dancer the song was written about. I enjoy the duality of the song. It ended up making itself and that’s the beauty of it, the beauty of music. It’s so spiritual. I’m just a vessel. I hope people relate to it and find beauty in it.”

With a musical style largely indicative of his Yoruba roots, Lojay’s previous releases included ‘Ariel’ in 2019 and 2020’s ‘Ogogoro’. The upcoming EP was borne out of Lojay’s determination to persevere through his own dark times during the start of the pandemic last year. Already a huge Sarz fan, after some reflection he decided to reach out for an introduction which led to a face to face meeting between the two acts. Despite Lojay hoping to collaborate on one song, Sarz decided that they would work on an EP together and a 3 month-long boot-camp in Lagos ensued.

Helmed by the explosive ‘Tonongo’ and its hypnotic visual, the upcoming EP is a reflection on heartbreak and vulnerability, with a sonic journey that will not only make you get up and move but will redefine the parameters of Afro-Fusion sounds and aesthetics. Enjoy!
